Is Democracy increasingly at risk?

Nowadays, the powerful influence of markets and financial centers poses the same threat to our collective social progress.

Που συμβαίνει

Democracy was the political innovation that liberated citizens from the fear of tyrant, monarch and dogma. It was the collective response of citizens to the natural tendency of the powerful to accumulate and maximize wealth and power. Nowadays, the powerful influence of markets and financial centers poses the same threat to our collective social progress. As the role of citizens in the decision making process gets smaller, democracy appears increasingly at risk.

  1. In which areas of modern society do you perceive there to be a democratic deficit?
  2. In which ways, if any, do you think that the participation of the citizens in the decision making process could be enhanced?
